HOOPLA!

HOOPLA!

If you are looking for a great practical book on management  I would suggest Mastering The Management Buckets by John Pearson.  It is simple, smart and strategic.  One of the buckets he talks about is the HOOPLA Bucket.  This is all about loving, cheering and celebrating your staff, teams and volunteers.  Here is what HOOPLA stands for:

Honor team members with a year-around HOOPLA culture!

Organize HOOPLA events, parties and celebrations.

Overwhelm the team with spontaneous fun.

Pay the HOOPLA bills from your HOOPLA budget.

Laugh a lot – and inspire others to have fun

Affirm and appreciate the team with regular doses of HOOPLA!

While this is not something new, it is something that is missing in many organizations.   With job dissatisfaction being at an all time high (close to 70%), it’s essential to have HOOPLA part of your staff, team and organization.  Here is the key…if you don’t offer true affirmation and appreciation to the people you lead…your leadership currency will go bankrupt.  I dedicate 15 mins a day to cheering for those I lead so they know I love them, appreciate them and want to see them reach their full potential.  This can be in person, in note or on the phone.  It’s not “how” you do it that is important…just do it!

Cheering for you!

Erik
